Google Business Profile Setup for Trucking Carriers

A complete, verified Google Business Profile is one of the fastest ways a trucking company can start showing up when brokers, shippers, or drivers search its name — and it’s free.

Most small carriers either never claim their profile or leave it half-filled, which means a competitor’s fully-built profile wins the visibility that should be theirs.

Claim and verify first

Search the company name in Google Maps. If a profile already exists unclaimed (common — Google sometimes auto-generates these from business registries), claim it. If not, create one at business.google.com. Verification is usually done by postcard to the business address or by phone, and it can take a few days — start this early rather than right before it’s needed.

What to fill in completely

Business category (Trucking Company is the primary category; add secondary categories like Logistics Service or Freight Forwarding Service if applicable), service area (if operating from a terminal without walk-in customers, this should be set to a service-area business rather than a storefront), phone number matching the website exactly, hours, and a real business description that mentions specific lanes, equipment types, or specialties — not generic filler.

Photos and posts matter more than most carriers realize

Profiles with photos get significantly more engagement than those without. Truck photos, terminal/yard photos, and team photos all help. Google Business Profile also supports posts — short updates about hiring, safety milestones, or company news — which give the profile fresh signals that it’s an active, real business.

The review flywheel

Reviews from drivers, shippers, or brokers who’ve worked with the company build the same trust signal brokers look for when vetting a carrier online. A simple process — asking satisfied contacts directly for a review, right after a good experience — does more than any review-request software.
